The Landmarks in the Countryside project is continuing in the Studio and the workshop with sculptor Václav Fiala entitled AW – Sculpture in Public Areas will be devoted to this subject. This will be supplemented by a lecture on the selection of ceramic material for outdoor sculpture, will be presented by the Brno ceramic artist, Bob Jakeš.
Liberec artist Iva Ouhrabková and Ing. arch. Pavel Vaněček started their lecture and also our biennial project called The Landmarks in the Countryside.
Wood-firing in a special kiln and a discussion with specialist Mgr. Michal
Kušík, who is an instructor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in
Bratislava, UU Ceramics Atelier.
The „Joint Creation by Fire“ international symposium will be held from July 26 to August 10, 2008 at our Ceramics Studio. The following firings will be held in the framework of the symposium:
Wood-firing in a Gallic-Roman ceramics kiln
Led by: Mgr. Richard Thér, pedagogue from the University in Hradec Králové

An excursion to the Centre of Experimental Archeology in Všestary was
included.
Wood-firing in a high-temperature assembled kiln
Led by: Mgr. Michal Kušík, instructor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design
in Bratislava, UU Ceramics Atelier

Wood-firing in a „koch“ (replica of a Eastern Slavic type of
kiln)
Led by: Petr Toms
August 4 – August 7
The fired ceramics will be exhibited in the garden of the studio during the “Folk Crafts” fair on Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Kohoutov.
